Raymond P. Gailitis, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a Cornea Specialist & LASIK Surgeon in Ft. Lauderdale at Ophthalmology Consultants-The Center for LASIK, with offices in Margate where he performs LASIK in Ft. Lauderdale patients as well as all types of Laser Eye Surgery for the correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism for patients from throughout southeastern Florida. These include PRK as well as Monovision LASIK. Dr. Gailitis is a well-recognized Ft Lauderdale LASIK Surgeon who is a specialist in LASIK Surgery and Laser Vision Correction. He received his Medical Degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine and completed a Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. In addition, prior to establishing his eye surgery practice Dr. Gailitis completed a Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Emory University where he obtained specialized training and experience in LASIK Eye Surgery.
Dr. Gailitis is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and is a member of the American Medical Association, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Latvian Medical Society, the Latvian-American Eye Association and has served as the Past President of the Broward County Ophthalmology Society. Dr. Gailitis is a familiar media expert regarding eye health, vision correction and eye surgery and has been featured on the nationally televised program "Ground Floor" performing Laser Vision Correction. He was also a featured eye surgeon interviewed on Channel 4 CBS medical news discussing hyperopic LASIK. He has served as a radio consultant on LASIK for KWRE in St. Louis, KLIC in Minnesota, the Louisiana Radio Network, and WWNN on the Steve Kane show.
Dr. Gailitis has done charitable work in Eastern Europe and has served as visiting professor on project ORBIS teaching doctors internationally. He lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his wife Sonia, son Dane and daughter Marissa. Dr. Gailitis enjoys excellent vision after his own LASIK Eye Surgery procedure.
